Questions about Ramadan

When does the fast start and end each day?

The fast begins at Fajr, the start of dawn, and ends at Maghrib, just after sunset. Suhoor, the pre-dawn meal, is eaten before Fajr; some timetables also show Imsak, a few minutes earlier, as a margin. Both times change every day and with your location, so use the timetable for your own city.

What if someone is ill or travelling during Ramadan?

The Quran allows a person who is ill or on a journey to leave the fast and make up the same number of days later (2:185). For other situations, such as long-term illness, ask a scholar or your local mosque.
