Praying in Dammam

Dammam's latest Fajr, 5:06 AM, does not fall on the winter solstice. It comes on 14 January, more than three weeks after the winter solstice on 22 December, because sunrise keeps getting later for a while after the solstice and only slowly pulls back.

Saudi Arabia never changes its clocks, so that mid-January dawn is the plain result of the sun. The summer end of the year is the mirror image: Fajr is as early as 3:13 AM on 6 June, and the longest Fajr-to-Maghrib day, 15h 23m, comes on 22 June.
