Praying in Doha

Doha's fasting day changes less across the year than in Europe or North America. It runs from 15h 13m on 19 June to 11h 56m on 13 December, a gap of more than three hours, and no clock change resets the pattern in between.

OpenStreetMap lists 529 mosques within 15 km of the city centre, and Isha always follows Maghrib by a fixed 90 minutes. Fajr is as early as 3:14 AM on 6 June and as late as 5:01 AM on 13 January.

Frequently asked questions

Which Asr time is highlighted in Doha?

Standard Asr, when an object's shadow matches its height plus the noon shadow. Hanafi Asr comes later. The page lets you flip the highlight, and Doha's table always shows both, so you can follow the school you prefer.

Which direction is the Qibla from Doha?

253 degrees clockwise from true north, west-south-west. Makkah lies across the Arabian Peninsula, and the bearing barely changes from one side of the city to the other.

Why does Isha in Doha look so regular?

Isha is fixed at 90 minutes after Maghrib, so it simply follows sunset. It is as early as 6:13 PM on 26 November and as late as 7:58 PM on 24 June, so the whole year moves in a narrow window.

How much shorter is the shortest fast than the longest in Doha?

The shortest day, 11h 56m on 13 December, is more than three hours shorter than the 15h 13m of 19 June. In many cities the gap is more than twice that, so Doha's fasting hours stay comparatively even.
