UK times use the Moonsighting Committee Worldwide method. In summer, cities above 55 degrees north, including Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, follow the one-seventh-of-the-night rule for Fajr and Isha because true twilight never ends there. Dhuhr is shown 5 minutes after solar noon and Maghrib 3 minutes after sunset, following the method's guidance.

Frequently asked questions

Which Asr time does Cambridge show first?

The Hanafi time is highlighted, which is the later of the two Asr options. The Standard time is listed beside it, and a toggle changes which one is emphasised. Your own mosque's timetable is the best guide for congregation.

How much shorter is a winter fast than a summer fast in Cambridge?

The shortest, 9h 27m on 20 December, is more than nine hours shorter than the longest, 18h 50m on 21 June. The winter fast is therefore a little over half the length of the summer one.

When is Fajr latest in Cambridge?

At 6:28 AM on 1 January, nearly four hours after the earliest Fajr of the year, 2:38 AM on 18 June. Between those two dates the dawn prayer moves steadily, a little each day.

When does Isha start earliest in Cambridge?

At 5:23 PM on 7 December, which is more than two weeks before the winter solstice on 22 December. After that date Isha gets a little later each day even though the days are still short.
