Praying in Vancouver

Fajr in Vancouver is earliest at 3:10 AM on 5 June, sixteen days before the summer solstice, while Isha is latest at 11:19 PM on 24 June. That leaves nearly three weeks between the earliest dawn prayer and the latest night prayer, even though both belong to the same run of long days.

British Columbia has no clock change in the 2027 timetable, so nothing in the swing comes from a clock shift. Isha at its earliest, 6:51 PM on 7 December, is more than four hours from its summer peak, and the stretch from Fajr to Maghrib shrinks from 18h 12m to 9h 49m.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Isha peak on 24 June in Vancouver when the longest fast is on 20 June?

They measure different things. Isha depends on when evening twilight ends, which keeps getting later for several days after the solstice. The fast runs from Fajr to Maghrib, and by 20 June Fajr is already later than its early-June minimum, so the fast peaks first.

Is there an hour change in Vancouver's prayer times in 2027?

No. The timetable stays on one clock time all year. Isha eases from 11:19 PM on 24 June to 6:51 PM on 7 December in small daily steps, with no sudden move at any point.

Which Asr time does the Vancouver timetable show first?

The highlighted Asr is the Standard one, which starts when an object's shadow matches its length plus its noon shadow. Hanafi Asr starts when the shadow reaches twice the length and falls later. Use the switch above the timetable, and follow the school your own mosque keeps.

How much shorter is a winter fast in Vancouver?

The fast from Fajr to Maghrib is 9h 49m on 19 December and 18h 12m on 20 June, a difference of a little over eight hours between the shortest and the longest days.
