Australian times use the Muslim World League method (Fajr 18 degrees, Isha 17 degrees). Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory do not observe daylight saving, and their times reflect that. Dhuhr is shown 1 minute after solar noon, following the method's guidance.

Frequently asked questions

Why are there two Asr times for Adelaide?

Schools of thought count Asr differently. Standard Asr starts when a shadow is as long as the object plus its noon shadow. Hanafi Asr starts when the shadow is twice as long. Adelaide's timetable highlights Standard, and a switch above it shows the Hanafi time.

When is Fajr earliest in Adelaide?

The earliest Fajr is 4:09 AM on 8 December, eleven days before the longest fast on 19 December. The latest is 6:05 AM on 2 April, two days before the clocks go back on 4 April.

How long is the longest fast in Adelaide?

The longest day from Fajr to Maghrib is 16h 18m on 19 December. The shortest is 11h 19m on 18 June, nearly five hours less, since Adelaide is far enough south for summer and winter to differ a lot.

Is Isha really after 10 PM in Adelaide?

Yes, in midsummer. The latest Isha is 10:12 PM on 1 January. It reads that late partly because daylight saving puts the clock an hour ahead and partly because twilight lingers in summer at this latitude.
